Ben Murphy lives among three thousand books. He was not a good student ( he attended five universities), but he did get a degree political science.

Ben Murphy is the veteran of the series, who has been in the show since the beginning. The show bought fame to him and to the ill-fated Pete Duel. Now he shares the job with Roger Davis, the substitute following Pete's exit from the series.

Ben Murphy, a mixture of Newman, Brando and O'Neal, has attained his greatest ever popularity in this series. Hundreds of telephone calls daily, thousands of cards, thousands of fans..., it's the high price of fame, he has to pay.
